Colegio Internacional Torrequebrada is seeking to appoint a qualified and experienced Teacher of English to join our Secondary and High School team.

The successful candidate will have experience of teaching English in the International Baccalaureate MYP and DP programs, and preferably with preparing students for Cambridge English exams for the Common European Framework of Reference. The successful candidate will be experienced in ‘project-based learning’, ‘inquiry-based learning’ and a ‘thematic curriculum’. The successful candidate will ideally have skills which enable them to work with native level English-speaking students and students where English is not their first language. We are looking for an enthusiastic and committed professional who has a passion for students’ personalised learning within a forward looking school.

Colegio Internacional Torrequebrada is a 3 - 18 school on the Malaga coast about twenty minutes from the centre of Malaga. Despite being a young school, we have created an excellent reputation for innovative learning. We have an international ethos via the ‘International Baccalaureate’ and our students achieve excellent results which allow them to go on to study at the top universities around the world. We have a very active professional development programme which supports and underpins our school’s development initiatives.

Our student population of over 650 is approximately 75% Spanish, with the remaining 25% from over twenty-five different countries. Our students go on to study in universities throughout the world.

Successful applicants must:

  • Have a relevant degree and teaching qualification
  • Have appropriate and up to date experience in an international IB school
  • Be a fluent native level English speaker
  • Have EU citizenship
  • Be motivated towards and enthusiastic about contributing to the further development of our school.

Colegio Internacional Torrequebrada is a mainstream, mixed, all-through, international, bilingual, independent school in Malaga, Spain.   

The idea for Colegio Internacional Torrequebrada was started by Angel Bueno Roldán to educate a group of families living in Getxo-Vizcaya. In 1996 the school was founded. His daughter, Sonia Diez, helped him bring it to reality and is now President of the Educational Group which is made up of Colegio Internacional Torrequebrada (Benalmádena, Málaga); El Colegio Europa (Getxo, Vizcaya); Ítaca Foundation; and Wakana Lake (Parque Natural de los Alcornocales, Cádiz).

The school aims to treat  each student as a unique individual, with their own set of learning abilities and preferences. The school’s motto is, ‘Each child needs to be the captain of their own boat; to be able to steer their own destiny'. The school strives to provide an environment that helps each children learn in their own way, by prioritising an inquiry-based learning method and offering flexible learning spaces. They work hard to provide a safe, caring environment for every child so everyone feels they belong and are respected.  

The curriculum for students aged 3 to 11 concentrates on reading and writing, cooperation, symbolism, language skills, logical and mathematical thinking. The school covers the British National Curriculum. The school has created a Global Junior MBA for students in secondary and high school. Baccalaureate students can take their IB in Spanish or opt for Bilingual IB in Spanish and English. 

The school prides itself on being innovative in its approach to education. They have devised a full ‘Bring Your Own Device’ programme for primary students onward. They were also the first in Spain to implement Finland’s KiVa anti-bullying programme and have purpose-built learning spaces that help its many pupils engage with their studies.
