Northern Education Trust (NET) is a charitable education Trust with an improving track record for school improvement. The Trust sponsors 20 academies; 10 secondary and 10 primaries across the North of England in ten Local Authority regions. NET relentlessly focuses on standards because we know outcomes are paramount. Our decision making is driven entirely by what is best for children. A large number of new systems and procedures continue to be implemented and are already having a significant impact on the life chances of children across the Trust and this has been recognised in recent Ofsted inspections.

We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and flexible ICT Technician to join our existing ICT support team immediately. The successful candidate will have a good knowledge of general hardware and software as well as being highly organised and having excellent communication skills, both written and verbal. The ability to work on their own initiative as well as part of team is essential and experience of working in an ICT support role or similar would be an advantage. The successful applicant will be required to work as part of a dedicated team of staff and relate to a wide range of staff and students within the Academy.

Northern Education Trust is committed to safer recruitment practice and pre-employment checks will be undertaken before any appointment is confirmed. This post is subject to an enhanced disclosure and barring service check. We expect all adults who work for the Trust to share our commitment to safeguarding and the health and wellbeing of our students.

A welcome from the Principal

I would like to welcome you to Thorp Academy, a Northern Education Trust academy which is one of the top performing schools in the local area. At Thorp, English & Mathematics are the cornerstones of our curriculum model as we believe attaining a strong pass in these subjects will open up our students life chances. Our model is tried, proven and successful and that is why both our English & Mathematics pass rates are significantly above the national average and in the top 20% of schools in the North East of England for this performance measure.

Thorp Academy has a reputation for commitment to students of all abilities and a renowned level of pastoral care. This is the result of a stable, dedicated and highly effective team of staff ensuring that pupils have every opportunity to succeed in a huge variety of activities in and out of the classroom.

We aim to find the route to excellence for every pupil in their time with us and to develop a lifelong love of learning. We expect every student who joins us to do his or her very best, to be happy and feel safe at the academy.

Thorp is part of the Northern Education Trust (NET) together with nine other secondary schools and ten primaries across the North of England. Being part of the NET family enables us to share best practice in order to progress the life chances of all of our students.

The resources of all schools are used to provide a stimulating learning environment which inspires children to do their best. The trust is distinctive in its values but inclusive in its nature.

Choosing a school for your son or daughter can be amongst the most difficult decisions a parent has to make. At Thorp they will have the benefit of a safe and successful school with strong academic curriculum that has been developed to put students first and give them every opportunity to succeed in their future careers.

We look forward to working with parents as close partners in providing a challenging and exciting education for young people.
