St Patrick’s Primary is a Catholic school in Macksville, New South Wales, that provides Kindergarten through to Year 6 education to children in the Nambucca Valley area.

The school was founded in 1918, by the Sisters of the Good Samaritan, and the pupils were given lessons in the local priest’s car shed. The school has changed locations a few times in its 99 year history, most recently moving into a brand new school site at the start of 2016.

Facilities

St Patrick’s Primary opened the doors to its new campus in 2016, with brand new purpose-built school buildings.

Technology is a focal point of the school which has tablets, wireless headphones, laptops, interactive whiteboards, and video conferencing equipment. Stage 2 students are also invited to bring in their own iPads as part of a Bring Your Own Device programme.

Curriculum

In addition, the Key Learning Areas set out by the Board of Studies and Teaching and Educational Standards, St Patrick’s Primary also has a comprehensive programme of Religious Education. The school’s current curriculum is based on the ‘To Know, Worship and Love’ textbooks, which cover religious education from Year 1 to Year 6.

St Patrick’s Primary also runs workshops for parents - in topics such as maths, writing, anti-bullying and cyber safety – so they can help support their child’s learning at home.

School ethos

St Patrick’s Primary’s Mission Statement outline their aim to embrace and express Christian faith through five different areas: witness, worship, service, evangelisation and community.
