Job overview

We are looking for an enthusiastic, highly motivated and dedicated Individual Needs Assistant to work as part of our Learning Support team and provide bespoke support for one specific young person both in and out of the classroom.

Joining us, you will focus on promoting the learning and personal development of this particular student, within our Key Skills class, to enable them to make best use of the educational opportunities available to them.

Liaising with teachers with regard to the planning and differentiation of work for the student will be a key aspect of this role, along with providing direct one-to-one support in and outside the classroom. You will also be required to liaise with outside professionals offering support and guidance to the school. Working alongside classroom teachers, you’ll ensure all learning is accessible and engaging for the young person in order to maximise achievement and attainment.

To be successful, you will have qualifications in Maths/Numeracy or English/Literacy equivalent to at least NVQ Level 2. This post involves working with a specific pupil with significant learning difficulties, so prior experience of working with children with a high level of additional needs is advantageous, but not essential, as training will be provided.

In return, you will enjoy a unique working environment in the heart of the Weald of Kent, discounts and offers with Kent Rewards employee benefit scheme, together with ongoing training and support to help you excel and develop your career. We also benefit from having an on-site nursery which offers discounts to Homewood staff.

Closing date: 29th September 2019, however early applications are encouraged as we review applications as we receive them.

We are an equal opportunities employer and welcome applications from all members of the community. Homewood School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all employees to share this commitment. The successful candidate will be asked to apply for an Enhanced DBS Disclosure.
