About the Opportunity

-
Are you passionate about the outdoors and at the same time want to help improve the outcomes of students with social, emotional and mental health needs?

- Are you emotionally intelligent and passionate about supporting young people to improve their social interaction with others?

Here at St Luke’s Academy, we are dedicated to enabling every student to be prepared for a successful adult life. Our intention is to equip them with the skills they need to contribute positively to society, so that sometimes means we have to be very innovative in how we plan to teach and engage with our students.

We endeavour to be responsive to the needs of each student but uncompromising in expectation.

We continue to make significant improvements to produce positive change. After our last Ofsted visit in 2016 we, as a family of colleagues, have been working tirelessly to transform our school into a beacon of outstanding practice within the local community as a school for students with SEMH needs.

We know it’s not an overnight process, but so far we have made excellent progress and we are excited now to be in the position to recruit a dynamic, energetic individual who has a passion for the outdoors, to join our team and show our students that they can achieve the essential social skills for life.

The successful candidate will plan and deliver lessons to promote social interaction, through outdoor pursuits, adventure and environment. You will be creative, innovative and possess excellent teaching skills, to meet different learner’s needs.

St. Luke’s Academy holds a maximum of 77 students, 74 of which are currently filled. You can expect support through daily, morning meetings headed by our Principal, Judith Buckingham, as well as a Teaching Assistant designated to each class with a maximum of 6 students per lesson. You will also be supported by our fantastic Pastoral Support team. We have a very strong Continuing Professional Development programme, which takes place weekly and we are passionate about developing new and existing members of staff.

In September 2018, we joined a Multi Academy Trust: The White Horse Federation, so in joining us you will not only have the support and dedication of your immediate team at our Academy, but also through an extended Network of a further 30 schools spanning four neighbouring geographical counties within the South West.
