Ambitious about Autism is the national charity for children and young people with autism. We exist to make the ordinary possible for children and young people with autism. We work to provide more and better educational services, raise awareness and understanding of autism and campaign for change.

This is an interesting opportunity for a focused, determined and resilient individual to make a real impact within a short space of time. This is a key and influential role within our dynamic organisation, as we are in an exciting period of development and growth. This will feed into our ambitious organisational strategy which will increase our reach and impact our learner numbers over the next three years.

As the Interim Head of Property and IT you will be part of our Senior Leadership Team and will be managing a small team of your own. You will be focusing on leading and delivering on three key projects:

  • The development of our West Thames Ambitious College site
  • The retendering of our outsourced facilities management contract
  • Embedding a new IT platform into the organisation and maximising its impact.

Working pattern: 35 hours per week - Monday to Friday. We are happy to consider part time working or flexible working arrangements.

Location: Based at The Pears National Centre for Autism Education, Muswell Hill, London N10 3JA. Frequent travel to our other sites will be required on a regular basis.

TreeHouse School is a non-maintained special school that was founded in 1997. Based in the heart of a thriving community in north London, it educates autistic pupils aged three to 19 from across London and the Home Counties.

Using the Ambitious Approach to education, pupils receive specialist and personalised support through a dedicated transdisciplinary team of qualified teachers, speech therapists, occupational therapists and behaviour specialists.

Our Curriculum:

Our curriculum is tailored to each pupil’s unique qualities, specific needs, and individual starting points. In this way, we can set accurate targets for progress.

In our individualised learning programmes, we assess each pupil extensively and consider their strengths and what they find more challenging. Our curriculum is creative and flexible, using our natural environment to extend pupils’ learning. You are as likely to see maths being practised in the shop, the community or the garden as you are in the classroom. Where appropriate, our curriculum is linked to and, where necessary, differentiated from the National Curriculum’s requirements.
