Harrow School is situated in Harrow on the Hill, north-west London and is one of the best-known schools in the world. Around 830 boys study at Harrow and live in the School’s 12 boarding houses. An opportunity has arisen for an Interim Matron to join our team for the Spring term, January–March. Each boarding house has a Matron who is responsible for the health and welfare of the boys and for ensuring the domestic arrangements in the house run smoothly. Each Matron is accommodated in a self-contained flat in their house and plays a key role in helping the House Master create a happy and well-ordered atmosphere.
This role would suit a candidate who has a background in a caring or medical profession, or experience of working with young people. We are looking for a highly organised and caring individual who possesses common sense, flexibility and the ability to communicate positively with a wide range of people. The role involves accompanying boys on hospital visits, so applicants must be calm in an emergency, empathetic, practical and have a driving licence and their own car.
