Do you share our ambition to push the boundaries on behalf of all the children and young people with autism in the UK? Are you an analytical and customer-focused individual, passionate about solving complex problems and finding solutions to technical hardware and software issues?

What are we looking for?  At Ambitious about Autism, we’re seeking a dynamic, proactive and highly organised IT Support Engineer to provide vital, dedicated IT first line support to users across the organisation, both in person, online and on the telephone. We also need someone to join us in our mission to make the ordinary possible – by reaching for the extraordinary and achieving the impossible.

To succeed in this challenging role, we expect you to have a can-do and methodical approach to problem-solving and providing a highly effective service to all users, plus you should also have:

•A degree, or proven written and analytical skills within a relevant IT, business operations background 

•Proven experience of running a helpdesk across multi sites and involving multiple stakeholders 

•Strong, hands-on technical knowledge and experience with operating systems and applications, including Microsoft Windows 7 and 10, Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Windows server administration

 •Excellent written and verbal communication skills 

•Experience of training users in IT systems and applications, and on-boarding into ways of working

These are some, but not all, of the amazing achievements we will expect from you:

•You will analyse and resolve desktop, hardware and software problems for staff and pupils/young adults with autism across all sites

 •Work with internal and external stakeholders, to participate in the installation, developing, monitoring, maintenance, support, and optimisation of all network hardware, software and infrastructure 

•Investigate and develop new technologies for staff and pupils/young adults with autism 
 •Work on IT projects as required 

•Run training sessions for staff as required, both on a one-to-one basis and in groups

 •Maintain IT policies and procedures and develop toolkits for staff

Ambitious College is a specialist day college for autistic young people aged 16 –25.

The college has two campuses co-located within mainstream colleges in north and west London. These are the Pears Campus at the College of Haringey, Enfield and North East London (CONEL) in Tottenham and the Pears Campus at West Thames College in Isleworth.

At each campus, there is a team of dedicated and passionate professionals including teachers, occupational therapists, speech and language therapists, employment specialists, behaviour specialists and specialist support staff. Using the Ambitious Approach to education, they work together to come up with learning and support approaches tailored to the individual.

Through a range of partnerships with local businesses, community groups and mainstream partners, the college also offer opportunities to learn in the community. This combined approach – personalised education, positive support and real work experience – delivers results. It allows young people to achieve their goals, fulfil their potential and go on to lead active lives in their community.
