Job overview

We are looking to appoint an enthusiastic, highly-motivated, reflective and experienced Deputy Head Teacher, to assist the Head in providing professional leadership and management for our City Centre Junior School. Ideally, candidates will have acquired a proven track record of teaching experience throughout the primary years and be working within a senior management team, at the level of Assistant Head or Deputy Head teacher. However, middle leaders looking to take on further responsibility and management will also be considered for the post, depending on their level and quality of experience. The Deputy Head will be a class teacher with a significant time allowance in order to be able to combine his or her teaching with the role.

The City Centre Junior School is located near the Vatican in a quiet part of Rome. The building we work in has been developed into a modern and spacious school with bright, airy classrooms, a large music room and a lovely Library.

The school benefits for being on a site with access to high quality sports facilities and a theatre

Our rich curriculum combines the rigour of the English National Curriculum with the creativity on offer from a wide range of arts subjects; music, drama, art, design technology and not forgetting the variety of sports and skills learned in Physical Education (PE). We aim to prepare our pupils for 21st Century living through the use of technology and in challenging the pupils’ thinking and creativity, whilst the PSHE (Personal, Social & Health Education) programme ensures that they acquire the social skills and understanding to live in harmony with others. A great generosity of spirit exists amongst our staff and pupils from our youngest ‘Dragon School’ 3&4 year olds, to our older pupils in the upper

Phases of the Junior School.

As a newly appointed Deputy Head, you will have the opportunity to work within a team that is committed to developing a learning culture of excellence, equality and high expectations for all and through reflective leadership gain the satisfaction of shaping the Junior School in this next phase of its growth.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Qualified Teacher Status.
  •  Post graduate training desirable but not essential.

EXPERIENCE

  • A proven track record, (at least two years), of recent and successful management roles within the Junior School, including a sound understanding of Early Years.

A current Job Description outlining roles and responsibilities relevant to the job and a range of personal skills and abilities desirable is available on request.
