The School is within North Devon’s UNESCO Biosphere Reserve, on the edge of the beautiful Exmoor National Park and a stone’s throw from the dramatic coastline, where rugged cliffs are interspersed with magnificent sandy beaches. 

This new role within the Prep School is as a result of increased pupil numbers into the Prep School. 

The aims and ethos of a West Buckland education is understood by staff as PIE and delivered through the 7Cs. Focused very much on developing the characteristics that make up the school ethos (the 7Cs) our extra-curricular (ECA) strategy incorporates Sport, Drama, Music, Outdoor Learning, Service and enrichment opportunities. 

The successful candidate will be a capable, creative and skilful KS 2Teacher and will be a Form Tutor responsible for the pastoral care of children in their class. Each Form Tutor teaches their class for English, Maths and Humanities lessons along with other subject areas to be determined at interview. In addition, Prep Staff are expected to coordinate a subject area.  Experience in coaching a primary sport would be advantageous. 

 We believe in providing the very best start in education for our pupils and the staff team are crucial to achieving this. 

The post is for appointment with effect the start of the Autumn Term 2021 (1 September 21 is Inset). This is a full time position, initially for 1 year. 

 West Buckland School has its own pay scale and as of next academic year will operate a pension scheme option with TPS (reduced employer contribution) or a separate Defined Contribution scheme .
