Job overview

Manchester Academy is vibrant, dynamic and forward thinking teaching community which embraces diversity and is committed to ensuring the success of our students. We are located on the outskirts of the world famous Manchester City Centre which means excellent transport links into Manchester and the North-West.

We have an exciting opportunity for a Key Stage 3 SEN/Transition Teacher to join our Academy. This role requires the post holder to be responsible for ensuring accelerated progress, high quality curriculum provision and effective teaching and learning within the transition area.

The Transition Department provides for learners with a range of needs. We liaise closely with the SEN department to cater for the needs of some of the schools most vulnerable students. Most children in the Transition classes have SEN or EAL and require support and nurture. In September the department is expanding and will have six KS3 classes and a small group of students in Year 10 and 11 doing ASDAN.

The children are taught Maths, English, Science, Religion, History and Geography by their main Transition teacher in one classroom. All other lessons are taught by subject specialists in mainstream school. Due to the needs of the learners we are looking for an enthusiastic and nurturing teacher who understands the needs of children with SEN and EAL who is able to teach a range of subjects at KS3.

Due to the unique nature of this role we welcome candidates who would like to visit the department or discuss the role further. Please contact Rebecca Hancock if you would like to arrange a convenient time. Rebecca.hancock@manchester-academy.org
