Job overview

School seeks teacher who wants to have fun!

Yes really! A job pays the bills but a good work place feeds the soul.

We are looking for a teacher who is up for a new challenge. Grove Academy can offer you unique experiences, a new challenge and hopefully fun. We can also offer you exciting professional development that you cannot get anywhere else.

Grove Academy is a new free school which opened in September 2017 and is the first all-through school to open in Slough, providing seamless high quality education for 4 to 18 year olds. We opened with classes in Reception, Years 1, 2, 3 and 7 and will grow each year to a full capacity of 1,940 including 6th form. We are looking for new staff to join us for our second year as we expand to teach in Year 1 or 2.

Our project based curriculum is developing via enquiry and ‘big questions’ and enables all pupils to place their learning within a real life context with concrete experiences. We are working closely with local businesses and organisations to ensure that our pupils leave Grove Academy with the skills and character that employers seek. You could help us develop that curriculum, creating exciting experiences and happy memories for our pupils.

What can we offer you?

  • A place where you will feel valued for your hard work
  • Experiences you cannot get anywhere else
  • Innovative CPD packages because we want to invest in you
  • A chance to blur the lines and learn from the best practices in EYFS, primary and secondary phases
  • We want to learn from others and research, so providing networking opportunities for staff at all levels is important to us.
  • As the school grows so will the leadership pathways available to suitable candidates      because our philosophy is to ‘grow our own’ where possible

We are looking for a teacher who:

  • Has the imagination to help develop our project based learning curriculum.
  • Is excited by the chance to be with us at the beginning of this amazing journey.
  • Recognises they need to be flexible as the school grows and in turn we will provide      experiences they cannot get anywhere else.
  • Who can also make learning fun!

Can you think outside of the box and see this as a fantastic opportunity to help us create a magical curriculum? If so …. Grove Academy is the place for you!

Grove Academy is the first all-through school to open in Slough and provides opportunity and education for 4 to 16 year olds, underpinned by high-quality teaching and learning and a common assessment framework. This continuity ensures that we can avoid the dips in performance associated with transition from one school to another.

As one school we are able to teach subjects to our younger children via specialist subject teachers, such as modern foreign languages and PE. We can provide pastoral care for children in challenging circumstances by offering a ‘joined-up’ strategy and support families more consistently over a longer time.

Our Vision, Aims & Ethos:

Grove Academy is a school where every child can feel welcome, successful and included. We want our pupils to:

· Be responsible, fully active citizens who are kind to one another, ready to learn, know how to keep themselves safe and are proud of their achievements

· Develop the confidence to participate in decision making, and have a creative input across the three areas of family well-being, public service and contribution to the economy

· Engage in a curriculum which will encourage problem solving, critical reflection, research and challenge

· Leave school confident in their ability to succeed and able to successfully access the  world of work or further/higher education

· Be able to learn new skills and engage in business markets that no one is yet able to define

· Be the future leaders of our society

· Recognise the importance of creativity and innovation to their future lives
