Our Schools

Our therapeutic schools have provided innovative, specialist provision for pupils with social, emotional and mental health difficulties since 2012. Today, we are widely acknowledged as leading the way in providing outstanding specialist provision for some of London's most complex children. Our April 2018 Ofsted inspection confirmed this to be the case. As an all-through provision for pupils aged 5–16, we provide personalised learning and therapy programmes within safe, stimulating and nurturing environments. We have high expectations, a culture of ambition and a therapeutic, values-centred approach. As a result, we rapidly develop pupils' emotional well-being, willingness to learn, social and life skills, behaviour for learning and academic progress. The Role

Teachers at Octavia House Schools are responsible for the highest standards of planning, teaching, assessment and behaviour management for our pupils who have significant SEMH as well as other associated SEN. Teachers coordinate and facilitate learning through engaging, differentiated, appropriately challenging learning sessions, which plan for maximum progression. Teachers produce detailed, clear differentiated planning for all National Curriculum subjects and this planning is linked to pupils’ individual needs, progress plans and assessment of pupils’ learning and progress. Teachers write three progress reports over a year, input termly assessment data and ensure that books/work are/is kept marked regularly, positively and constructively as per our marking policy. Teachers are at the core of leading the schools’ pupil-centred ethos and reflect the values and expectations at Octavia House. Teachers work within a wider multi-disciplinary team of professionals and ensure that support workers know at all times what is expected of them when it comes to facilitating learning with specific pupils in their groups.

Safer Recruitment

At Octavia House Schools, nothing is more important than the safety and wellbeing of our pupils. As such, we always follow safer recruitment procedures and do not allow anyone to work in our schools until/unless we can be confident that it is safe to do so. Our robust recruitment process and ongoing safeguarding culture are simultaneously the cause and result of our commitment to safeguarding; it is a commitment we expect and require from all of our staff. All offers of employment are dependent upon the successful completion of all the relevant statutory vetting checks and the return of two satisfactory professional references.
