Description Catherine McAuley Catholic College is seeking a Laboratory/Food Technology Assistant working 10 hours/week to join its staff team commencing in Term 1 2021.


Commencing in 2021 with Years 7 & 8, the newly established Catherine McAuley Catholic College is expected to grow annually to a Years 7-12 Learning Community in 2025. Position Requirements The position of Food Technology Assistant is responsible for:

• ensuring the general cleanliness, tidiness and smooth operation of the kitchen on a daily basis

• setup for Food Technology practical and demonstration lessons

• maintaining equiptment, resources and accurate kitchen documentation for the Food and Hospitality Faculty

• monitoring and controlling stock

• use of computer-based information sources to manage ordering, stock control and WH&S requirements

• Manage the organisation and preparation of chemicals and equipment for Science activities and across the School where required

• Prepare, provide and store equipment and resources for practical work for science classes and ensuring gear is cleaned and in good working order, organising repairs as necessary

Essential Criteria

• Ability to articulate a clear understanding of and a personal commitment to Catholic Education and to actively supporting the Catholic ethos and culture of the school

• Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and communicate with school staff, students and the community

• Demonstrate an innovative and agile mindset that supports and enhances a culture of continuous improvement within the school environment

• Demonstrated knowledge of current food safety practices and standards.

• Ability to maintain equipment, resources and accurate kitchen documentation for Food Technology and Hospitality.

• Demonstrated ability to maintain a safe working environment

• Demonstrated experience in food handling and preparation

• Excellent organisational skills that would allow for the timely ordering of equipment and the preparation of apparatus and solutions.

• Willingness to Comply or Compliance with the CSO Accreditation to Work, Teach and Lead 2018 - Category A – Accreditation to Work.


The applicant must provide evidence of the following:

• Current First Aid Certificate

• Current Paid Working with Children Check (WWCC)number

• Current Food Safety Supervisor Certificate

Desirable Criteria

• TAFE credited Laboratory Technician Qualifications of equivalent

Conditions of Employment Salary is in accordance with New South Wales & Australian Capital Territory Catholic Systemic Schools Enterprise Agreement 2017.
