Shore is a leading Australian boys’ Anglican Day and Boarding School emphasising excellence in academic, cultural and sporting pursuits and fostering integrity in moral and spiritual development in a Christian environment.  The school is located in North Sydney, overlooking Sydney Harbour. 

Shore seeks to appoint an experienced teacher capable of teaching Latin to Senior Level in our Senior School commencing in Term 1, 2020.  Ability to teach one of the following languages would be beneficial:  Classical Greek, German, Japanese, Chinese or French.

This is an exciting opportunity for a suitably qualified teacher who demonstrates enthusiasm and the ability to inspire boys in their learning.  The successful applicant will be expected to take part in the School’s extensive co-curricular programme and to provide active support for the School’s Christian purpose.

Facilities

The school is built on a eight hectare property in North Sydney with views of the Harbour and the City of Sydney. Facilities include classroom blocks, a physical education centre, administrative offices, a library, information technology centre, lecture theatres, chapel, a 500-seat auditorium and an assembly hall. Nearby are four boarding houses and a central dining hall. The 3-6 Preparatory School is based on an adjoining property and was upgraded with new classrooms in 2006.

In the School’s 130 year history, Shore has always recognised the link between physical activity and academic excellence.

The School's main sports facility is at Northbridge, five kilometres to the north where the School bought 9 hectares of land in 1916. This now has one of the finest ovals in Sydney and five other full-sized ovals, as well as a state of the art indoor cricket centre, tennis courts, pavilions and dressing rooms. Northbridge is an integral part of life at Shore with our community gathering to enjoy supporting the boys in their sports programme every week. This campus also includes classrooms for kindergarten to Year 2, and an early learning centre. The school also has a rowing centre on the Parramatta river at Gladesville.

The RAI Grant Centre at the North Sydney Campus includes an indoor 50m pool with 8 lanes, and a Multi-Purpose Sports Complex with basketball courts, tiered seating, gymnastics and weights rooms as well as 11 new, dynamic and flexible learning spaces and seminar rooms adjacent to new open spaces and courtyards

Curriculum

The school prepares students to complete the Record of School Achievement and the Higher School Certificate. Classes aim to prepare students for university but also for work in business, trades, the armed services or in rural industries.
