Royal Russell School educates over 1000 girls and boys between the ages of 3 and 18 and is situated on a beautiful green campus of 110 acres in the Shirley Hills near Croydon, only 30 minutes from Central London.  We have over 150 boarding students in the Senior School, and are proud of our day and boarding facilities that rank amongst the best in the South of England.  Our pupils, parents and staff experience a warm and friendly environment with strong pastoral care for every pupil alongside a comprehensive co-curricular and enrichment programme. The Independent Schools Inspectorate (ISI) has recently judged the school as ‘excellent’ in all areas.

The Medical Centre provides 24/7 medical care and health services to boarders and day pupils across the School and a limited service to staff; it is integral to the health and wellbeing of pupils. The School Doctor operates GP surgeries for the boarders (under the NHS) at the Medical Centre twice a week. 

We are seeking to appoint a Lead Nurse with overall responsibility for the day-to-day management of the facility to ensure the highest levels of care for pupils, with responsibility for the strategic development of the Medical Centre following best practice guidelines from the Royal College of Nursing, Boarding Schools Association and other regulatory bodies as necessary.

The Lead Nurse is part of the Operational Support Team, and on a daily basis reports to the Deputy Head (Pastoral), who is responsible for the pastoral wellbeing of all students.  The Lead Nurse will be responsible for the line management of 2 Registered Nurses (including a Nurse Practitioner), 2 Bank nurses.
