Job overview

Framlingham College is a special place to work, a place where staff are valued and supported. We are an independent boarding and day school set in stunning surroundings overlooking the 12th Century Castle and Mere in the market town of Framlingham. We offer a positive environment, with inspiring and supportive colleagues who strive for excellence.

Our busy medical centre supports around 700 pupils across both Framlingham College and Framlingham College Prep School. Due to restructuring, exciting opportunities have arisen for qualified NMC registered nurses, to join our busy school medical centre.  This is on a permanent basis, to grow and develop the provision of health care to the school community. The positions will involve providing first-line day and on-call overnight medical cover to pupils. Experience in A&E, practice or paediatric nursing would be an advantage.

The posts are full time, term time, plus five additional days in school holidays for planning and training purposes. It is envisaged that four day shifts and three overnight shifts will be required each week, including Sundays. Shifts are 7.30am – 3.30pm, 11.00am – 7.00pm, and overnight on call 7.00pm – 7.30am. Rates of pay are £16.90 per hour basic, plus enhanced rates for evenings, weekends and overnight “call-out” shifts.

For overnight shifts applicants will be required to either reside within 15 minutes driving time of Framlingham or operate on these nights from the self-contained accommodation provided.

As well as offering a supportive working environment, we provide a free lunch each day the kitchen is operational. Other benefits include professional development, a contributory pension scheme and complimentary membership of our Leisure Centre.

This will involve leading and developing a team of nurses, ensuring the highest standards of professional care throughout. You will be overseeing the day-to day operation of the medical centre to provide a high quality provision at both schools. Previous experience of leading or managing a team is essential. An additional allowance will be payable for the role of “Lead Nurse”, iro £2,000 per annum.

Recruitment packs including full job details for both posts are available from the HR department on 01728 723789, email: hr@framcollege.co.uk  or www.framcollege.co.uk.

'Where every pupil creates their own story' - Rated 'Excellent' (ISI Inspection 2022)

Framlingham College is a boarding and day school for boys and girls aged 3-18 which offers flexible and full boarding options.

This is a school that is interested in the development of the whole person as well as the examination candidate, and we encourage our pupils to open their minds, to aim high in all they do, and to make the most of the opportunities available to them. The College has a fine record in stretching the most able pupils, and we know that the bright child will do as well here as they will anywhere else, while our ‘value-added’ rating for those pupils who are not automatically destined to achieve A grades at GCSE and A Level stands alongside the very best in the country. Individual programmes of study provide each pupil with the knowledge and expertise to realise their full academic and personal potential, and the majority of our leavers go on to top British universities, including Oxford and Cambridge. What is certain is that all pupils can be assured of the highest professional quality of provision and individual care in all areas of school life, whatever their strengths or interests.

Framlinghamians leave here with a strong sense of self and a keen awareness of - and sensitivity to - the world around them. The adult world that they will be entering will be a very different one from a generation ago, and we want our pupils to leave here excited – rather than daunted – by the challenges that it will hold.

The College (both Senior and Prep Schools) was rated 'Excellent' by the Independent Schools Inspectorate (ISI) in 2022. To view the Inspection Reports in full as well as an Executive Summary of feedback, visit: https://www.framlinghamcollege.co.uk/inspection.
