Sandhill View Academy is on the rise and it shows in our results. In the last four years, results have gone from 28% 5+ E&M to 53% basics L4. This year we plan to surpass national averages. Our improvement is about more than rising results. The school has transformed in the optimism of its staff and the aspirations of its students. We have particularly benefited from our close relationship with our trust partner and sponsor Southmoor Academy and an increasing proportion of our students attend The Southmoor Sixth Form. Being part of a larger organisation really gives us the ability to draw in special talent and offer more opportunities to those who join us.
The English team consist of 6 specialists who have mirrored the rising of whole school results. It’s a very supportive team, which places a strong emphasis on mutual support and collaboration. They look forward to welcoming a new colleague.
The Role of Lead Practitioner English
The central purpose of this role is to raise achievement in English All other aspects are negotiable with the successful candidate. About Sandhill View Academy
Sandhill View Academy is a mixed, non-selective, non-denominational secondary school situated in Sunderland, Tyne and Wear. It has approximately 827 pupils aged 11-16.
Sandhill View Academy was founded in 1953 and moved into a newly built school on the original site in 2002. Its modern learning facilities include a swimming pool, motor vehicle workshop, theatre and industrial kitchen. The school converted to academy status in 2015 and is supported by the Southmoor Multi Academy Trust.

The secondary school places great emphasis on high achievement, prioritising this in the belief that it can change students' lives for the better. Pupils are encouraged to have ambition and reach for their goals. Ambition is key to the school’s vision and students are urged to never give up, but instead demonstrate determination.
Sandhill View Academy hopes to equip its learners to flourish as successful young adults. Enrichment plays an important role at the school and students are able to choose from a wide range of extra-curricular activities, including languages, sports and crafts. The school was awarded specialist performing arts status in 2007.
