Lead Practitioner of Science

The David Ross Education Trust is now recruiting for a Lead Practitioner of Science. This role at Thomas Middlecott Academy could be the ideal next step in your career.

The Science Department at Thomas Middlecott is an exciting phase in its development and we are seeking to create a forward thinking, creative department which is committed to promoting student leadership and finding innovative ways to support and challenge students. 

Through your drive, dynamic approach and vision, you will aim to make an inspirational contribution, supporting the Head of Faculty in driving through change. We are now looking for an enthusiastic, creative practitioner who is committed to enthusing young people and improving their life chances. You will be ably supported by the strong leadership within the academy and the nurturing and collaborative approach by all team members. The ability to think outside the box along with going the extra mile for our young people is essential in this role.

About the role

Full time teaching hours worked over 39 weeks of the year

This is a Permanent vacancy

Salary & Benefits

· L6 - L10 (£44,102 - £48,710) depending on skills and experience

· Access to Teachers Pension Scheme.

Who we are looking for

• Degree or equivalent
• Qualified Teacher Status 
• A sound academic background in Science
• Exemplary, outstanding practitioner
• Excellent classroom practitioner
• Good communication and 
• Effective team member and leader
• Science National Curriculum and GCSE Science syllabus
• Excellent knowledge of classroom skills and Teacher Standards
• Excellent understanding of the Ofsted framework and what constitutes effective teaching and learning
• Contemporary pedagogy
• Understanding of the strategies needed to establish consistently high aspirations and standards of results and behaviour
• Familiar with recent developments in the teaching and learning of the subject including strategies for raising achievement
