The Medeshamstede Academy opened in a new building in June 2013 to provide education for up to 114 4-18 year olds and has been making excellent progress since then. In September 2017, we were graded as ‘Good’ in our Ofsted inspection, stated that “Behaviour is good, and pupils have positive attitudes to learning and stay safe”.  We have high aspirations for the future and aim to be a centre of excellence for educating children with ASC.

You will implement and deliver an appropriately broad, balanced and relevant outdoor curriculum for pupils. This role will facilitate and encourage a learning experience which provides pupils with the opportunity to achieve the highest of standards.

We wish to recruit someone who is committed to providing a welcoming, stimulating learning experience for all pupils, what we are really looking for is someone that is passionate about working with special needs pupils and someone who is willing to contribute to the broader academy life.

To be successful you must be able to demonstrate:

  • A sense of adventure and creative approach inspiring pupils to have a passion for outdoor learning;
  • An ability to lead and further develop opportunities for Learning Outside the Classroom making full use of grounds and community links;
  • A deep understanding of how Learning Outside the Classroom can make an important contribution to the personal development and wellbeing of all pupils;

You will join a team of committed staff who are dedicated to ensuring pupils are prepared for the years beyond education and are supported to pursue their dreams.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who wishes to work in a unique environment. The role will expose you to challenging situations involving pupils with significant special needs; therefore experience of working with children with Autism would be advantageous.  The Trust also values continuing professional development and will ensure that you are given access to a variety of learning opportunities including training courses via the Learning Alliance and opportunities for sharing best practice.

If you would like to arrange a visit, please contact Lisa Lincoln, Office Manager on 01733 821405 to arrange a suitable time.

We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults and we expect all staff to share this commitment and undergo appropriate checks, therefore, all posts within the Trust are subject to an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service check.
