Who we are:
We are a successful, dynamic and forward thinking science department with a strong emphasis on developing staff in their specialism. The team are constantly reflecting and sharing ideas and are aided by a Science Lead Practitioner to encourage and facilitate this behaviour.
Science education is a strongly practical subject at Southfields and to that end experiments and demonstrations play a key role in enriching the curriculum being taught by the teachers. Science Technicians play and active role in the lessons they support and are integral members of the Science department. As Lead Science Technician you would have an overarching responsibility to provide technical support to our collaborative department.
Within the department there are experienced teachers, a Lead Practitioner and the support of members of the Senior Leadership Team. The department prides itself on its innovation and excellence in moving practice on to support student development.
As a National Teaching School, Southfields Academy offers a comprehensive and well thought of support programme for NQTs led by Senior Staff.
Southfields Academy is a thriving non-selective secondary academy located in south west London. Who we are looking for:
The successful candidate will ideally have an academic qualification preferably to degree level within the field of science. Practical experience and a demonstrable track record of working in a school environment would be highly advantageous and a confident and positive manner when supporting young people is a requirement. Excellent communication and organisational skills and the ability to manage and motivate a team are essential.
