Job overview

You’re an excellent Maths teacher? You're excited by what can be achieved in a calm, caring and compassionate environment? You want to make a difference in a happy and exciting school? Read on!

We are currently seeking an experienced and ambitious mathematician for September 2018 (although an earlier appointment for Easter/Whit will be considered). For the right candidate we are offering a highly competitive salary +TLR or Leadership Scale, with the opportunity to become a Lead Teacher and/or Specialist Leader of Education.

The position has arisen due to the continued growth of the school (our popularity has made us a 10 form entry school) and our pursuit of National Teaching School status.

We are an outstanding school with an excellent record of producing high quality mathematicians. As a girls’ school with a mixed Sixth Form we are looking to further improve our Maths department with an enthusiastic and passionate teacher to help inspire our students. We are also looking for a candidate to help further improve our already successful department.

In terms of teaching experience, candidates should be able to teach maths and possibly further maths from KS3 to KS5.

The right candidate will be forward-thinking, highly motivated and have the right experience to help bring fresh ideas to further improve the already successful Maths department. It will be expected that they contribute to the development of less experienced staff and lead extra-curricular activities within the department and/or wider school.

As an outstanding school, we are looking for an outstanding teacher who has a genuine and infectious passion for the subject. They will want to make a real difference to students’ enjoyment and education outcomes in maths.

If you are a highly motivated teacher and leader or potential leader, we hope to hear from you.

About Sandbach High School and Sixth Form College

Our Learning Community

Sandbach High School and Sixth Form College enjoys a pleasant situation in the historic market town of Sandbach. As a community we work together to create a secure and friendly environment in which individuals can grow intellectually, emotionally and socially.

We take pride in being a caring and well-ordered community where everyone is encouraged to develop self-awareness and personal responsibility and play a full part in the life of the school. Our Code of Conduct is based on respect, courtesy and consideration. We make sure that students who work hard, help others and show responsibility in their behaviour are properly recognised through our awards system. Commitment and success in sport or music are celebrated in the award of distinctive colours badges.

Our extensive curriculum is broad and balanced, giving all students the opportunity to develop their potential. A wide range of learning and teaching strategies is used to actively involve students in the learning process. Progress is carefully assessed and monitored.

Our Students

Young people entering Sandbach High School and Sixth Form College join a community which aims to put their wellbeing first. Students have a dedicated Pupil Reception area and on-site careers advisers as well as access to specialist counselling services and health professionals.

Each year group is guided by a team of form tutors led by an Achievement Coordinator. Their aim is to ensure that every individual makes progress in their achievement and personal development.

We listen to the views of our students . An extensive student questionnaire is used to inform school improvement planning and members of the school council play an important role in representing the pupil voice and contribute to the decision-making process.

Students were consulted about changes to the school uniform and the findings of student voice projects about learning and teaching are influential.

Our extensive programme of enrichment activities provides further opportunities for students personal development.

Outside the classroom.

We believe that a full involvement in school life fosters confidence, self-esteem and positive attitudes so we offer a very varied programme of extra-curricular activities. These take place at lunchtime, after school and in the holidays. We also encourage involvement in fundraising and other community projects and are proud of our students record of helping others.
