Job overview

GES is a happy and successful school with academic excellence at our heart. Our class teachers fulfil a vital role; they take overall responsibility for the academic and pastoral needs of the children in their class and are the first point of contact for parents. They work closely with other teachers, learning assistants and subject leaders, planning together and sharing ideas. They love learning and working with young people and have the desire to help all children have a wonderful and engaging start to their lives. We offer a UK-based curriculum, adapted to our context and location.

We are looking for an experienced Lead Teacher of German that loves working with young people. German is a popular language across the school from year 5 to year 13. You should  have experience of teaching a wide variety of students from Key Stage 3 and at GCSE and A level. This role will initially be for 3.5 to 4 days per week (a 0.75 to 0.8 contract). You will have the autonomy to shape and develop the curriculum and ensure that all students love studying the German language.

We welcome applications from experienced international teachers, however for this role we will only be able to appoint candidates that are EU-citizens as it is becoming increasingly difficult to obtain work permits from the Swiss authorities. Therefore, if you do not have the right to work in Switzerland or hold an EU passport unfortunately your application will not be considered.

We require the successful candidate to start on 1st August 2022

We keep an open mind in the consideration of any applicant who believes they have something special and valuable to contribute.

  • The ability to communicate effectively with pupils, colleagues and parents and to work as part of a collaborative team

HOW TO APPLY

Applications should be made through our TES school portal. Please do not send a CV, as they are not accepted. In your application letter you should ensure that you outline your impact and successes and how you meet the job description and person specification. Due to the large number of applications we get for every role, it may not be possible to contact every candidate but we thank you in advance for your interest in our school. Please contact HR via hr@geschool.ch if you have any questions about the role.

SAFER RECRUITMENT

GES is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. Applicants must be willing to undergo child protection screening, including checks with past employers, enhanced national/international criminal records checks and prohibition from teaching checks.
