LEAD TEACHER OF SCIENCE - Physics

(TLR 2.8 £6,449 per annum)

April 2018 or later by arrangement

The de Ferrers Academy has gained a reputation for high levels of academic achievement, demonstrated by the fact that the 2016 results at GCSE and A-level are the best on record.  We have a positive ethos and excellent staff/student relationships, we value our staff and are committed to their personal and professional development.    In recent years, the Academy has developed a national reputation for innovation and success in Learning technologies and ICT.   The Academy is an Apple Regional Training Centre, with 1:1 use of iPads for all Key Stage 4 and 5 students.

Lead Teachers at the Academy are outstanding practitioners who lead by raising standards of teaching and learning both in their own faculty and across the Academy.  They fully support, contribute to and lead the professional development of staff and are fully committed to ensuring students maximise their potential.

The Faculty is very well resourced and prides itself on a strong record of success based on a team of committed staff with a passion for teaching and learning (65% Science 2A*-C in 2016).  Science A-Level features very strongly in our Sixth Form with nearly 48% of students gaining A* -B grades in Science A2 subjects. We are wishing to appoint an inspiring individual with commitment, enthusiasm and drive to continue to raise levels of achievement.  The role has additional non-contact time due to the size of the faculty and this being a core subject. Your commitment to enhancing teaching and learning for our students is paramount, and the successful candidate can expect to receive excellent training and continual professional development.

All prospective candidates are very welcome to visit the Academy, to tour and meet with members of the faculty, and meet with our students.  We are situated on the rural outskirts of Burton upon Trent, within easy access of Birmingham, Nottingham and Derby.  As the Academy of choice for the local area, you will feel part of a supported community and, most importantly, a warm and friendly environment in which to educate our young people.  We offer an employee reward package which includes car leasing discounts and our own independent travel consultant.

This role offers an exceptional opportunity to the successful candidate.   If you wish to join this dynamic Academy, we look forward to hearing from you.   A full job description and application forms can be accessed via the Academy’s website, or alternatively please contact Samantha Lawless on 01283 247700.
