Applications are invited from suitably qualified and experienced educators for the above position commencing 29 January 2019 and concludes on 20 December 2019.


The Leader of Pedagogy supports the principal in the instructional leadership of the school and is a member of the leadership team. It is essential that the person in this role has the capacity to model quality learning and teaching, a desire to undertake deep research and professional reading and an ability to translate theory into action in order to increase teacher capacity and lift student faith and learning outcomes. 

In addition to your salary as a teacher you will receive a Coordinator 1 allowance of $$7,993 (effective January 2019) gross per annum.


Selection Criteria:

  1. Teaching qualifications meeting the      standard for accreditation with NESA 
  2. 4 Year trained qualification is      preferable
  3. Relevant leadership experience is      advantageous
  4. Demonstrated skills in classroom      pedagogy
  5. Ability to challenge status quo and      work flexibly with the principal and other leadership team
  6. Be passionate about understanding how      learning occurs and teaching pedagogies suitable for primary students
  7. Be able to set high standards for      student learning and teacher performance
  8. Be able to lead other staff in the      use of appropriate information and communication tools in classroom      pedagogy
  9. Have the ability to communicate      effectively with a wide range of people
  10. Working with children check clearance      (for paid positions)

With 550 students St Edward’s Primary is the largest Catholic Primary school in the Armidale Dioceses. The school divided into two campuses in the suburb of South Tamworth, New South Wales. The student population is highly diverse as it is made up of six different nationalities and includes fifty indigenous pupils.

The school was first opened in 1954 by Bishop Doody, and staffed by the Sisters of St Joseph. The second campus was later opened in 1970 when the creation of the Parish of South Tamworth increased enrolment in St Edward’s.

St Edwards Primary is spread over two campuses, with Kindergarten through to Year 2 students in ‘infant campus’ and Years 3 through to 6 in ‘primary campus’. Both campuses have classrooms equipped with electronic smartboards and a computer lab with fifteen computers. 

The school also as two libraries, a dedicated visual arts room, netball courts and a multi-purpose centre with a large stage.

Curriculum

In addition to the usual Key Learning Areas for primary school’s set out by the New South Wales Board of Studies, St Edward’s Primary as a Religious Education programme that follows the ‘Celebrating Our Journey’ syllabus.

Throughout the year the school also offers sports activities to the children including swimming, cricket, softball, tennis, basketball, hockey, rugby league, touch football and athletics.
