Job overview

 As Learn to Swim Teacher you will assist the Swim Coach in delivering quality swim programs offered by the Aquatic Centre and provide support to participants. Duties include, but are not limited to; encouraging participants of all age groups and abilities to swim, assisting with pool and lane set-ups, providing instructions to participants and answering after class questions as needed, clean up supplies and perform routine pool tests.

To be successful in this role you will be experienced in delivering a suite of swim programs and hold a current AUSTSWIM Teacher of Swimming and Water Safety or Swim Australia qualification, a current first aid and CPR certificate, a current blue card and pool lifeguard certificate.


St Peters is a Catholic primary school, situated in central Caboolture (opposite the railway station) with a student population of 650 and a staff of 73.  We are known for our professional development programs and our acknowledgment that a school cannot rise above the capacity of its teachers. Our teachers are dedicated professionals who constantly learn from and teach each other.  We focus on creativity in education, believing that creativity, relevance and respect are the cornerstones of learning for the twenty-first century. St Peters Aquatic Centre has two heated pools (25m 7 lane pool and a 15m learn to swim pool), modern change facilities and offers a range of swim programs and services on admission and session fees.

To be successful in this role you will:

  • have a commitment to and understanding of the ethos and traditions of Catholic Education;
  • currently hold or be eligible to hold a Paid Employee Positive Notice Blue Card; and
  • be eligible to work in Australia for the duration of the appointment.


Estimated Start Date:
  Commencing November 2019

Position Tenure:   Fixed Term

Weeks Worked:  School term weeks only (holidays unpaid)

Tenure Duration (If Fixed Term):   3 April 2020

Total Paid Hours (per wk) & Days Required:   Casual hours Monday to Friday during term time.

Salary Level, Range or Hourly Rate:   School Officer Level 3 - $34.50 - $36.00 per hour

Employment Conditions:   Diocesan Catholic Education Employing Authorities in Queensland Single Interest Agreement 2015-2019


This position involves working with children.  The appointment of successful applicants will be subject to satisfactory employment screening for child related employment in accordance with the law.
