Learning Achievement Facilitator (full time, term time only for 39 weeks per year)

Working 37 hours per week Monday to Friday between the hours of 8.30am and 5.00pm, for 39 weeks per year, term time only.

You will manage a student Achievement Centre and work with students identified as being at-risk of under-achieving, putting in place interventions that will lead to improved student outcomes including:

• Managing the Achievement Centre, creating a safe, disciplined and purposeful environment that positively impacts on the behaviour and attitudes of learners and leads to positive student outcomes.

• Setting consistently high expectations for behaviour in the Achievement Centre ensuring that students work productively towards their agreed learning goals.

• Managing distractions from learning and all aspects of challenging behaviour in a way that brings about positive resolutions and positive attitudes towards learning.

• Promoting the highest levels of attendance and punctuality for guided study periods, following up on instances of poor attendance or punctuality, liaising with Heads of Faculty, Progress Coaches and parents / carers.

We are looking for a candidate who is/has ideally:

• Educated to at least level 3 (A level or equivalent).

• Stage 2 Safeguarding qualification or the requirement to undertake the Stage 2 Safeguarding qualification.

• Experience of coaching/mentoring people to bring about high levels of success.

• Deep understanding of the ways in which young people learn and the barriers to learning that young people might face.

Sixth Form Colleges Support Staff Pay Spine point 24 £18,346 rising to point 27 £20,240, with annual increments based on service and performance related criteria, (This is the prorated equivalent of the full time scale £21,296 to £23,495)

Luton Sixth Form College is a specialist Sixth Form College, providing academic and general vocational education for 16 to 18 year olds in Luton.

Established in September 1966, we are the oldest Sixth Form College in the country and have an enviable reputation for quality and excellence. We are also one of the largest, with more than 2,800 students taking a vast array of A Level and BTEC courses.

Our mission is to provide an outstanding education for young people at the College, and to work with other local providers to ensure that there are opportunities for all young people in Luton to succeed and progress.

The College is located in a quiet residential area in the north of Luton, with easy access from the town centre, A505, A6 and M1. Our site was redeveloped between 2008 and 2010 and the original grammar school buildings were replaced by a £56m campus offering state-of-the-art facilities and modern resources for staff and students.
