Job overview

Woodside Academy is part of the Leading Learners Academy Trust, a multi academy trust, established in 2015 who support the successful improvement of many local schools and firmly believe in the power of mutual collaboration, partnership working and shared accountability between its academies, leading to better outcomes for all. Leading Learners seeks to provide clear career pathways and offers exciting opportunities for staff to grow and develop, recognising and rewarding individual strengths. Our holistic, supportive approach encompasses all aspects of each academy, consistently achieving and maintaining standards of excellence.

We are a two-form entry primary school on the outskirts of Bradford catering for children from 3 to 11 years of age, currently taking 60 children in each academic year. Our new school building opened in 2014 as part of a re-generation plan for the area and is situated on a large site with well-resourced classrooms and excellent outdoor space to enhance the learning opportunities for all our children. We have a popular breakfast club from 8am and after academy clubs to 5pm which help support our families within the community. The Academy's ethos is positive and supportive with good behaviour standards. We have a stable, experienced, supportive and friendly staff. Each class has a full-time teaching assistant and we also have additional support staff to ensure our children get the most out of their academy experience.

We are looking to appoint an enthusiastic and committed Learning Mentor to work in partnership with our pastoral team who will actively support and promote the ethos, educational vision and policies of the academy.  The role will involve the management of challenging behaviour, supporting challenging children to learn through 1:1 and supporting our most vulnerable children with their mental health and wellbeing.  This post would suit someone with experience of counselling or from a social work background.  The successful candidate will be working independently a lot of the time so would suit someone who can self motivate.

The successful candidate will:

  • Have high expectations of children’s achievement and behaviour
  • Be enthusiastic and flexible with a sense of humour
  • Be creative and able to motivate all children
  • Have excellent communication and organisational skills
  • Be a dynamic and creative team player, with excellent interpersonal skills
  • Be calm with a positive and confident manner

In return for your commitment and hard work we can offer you:

  • An academy that parents say is caring, professional, approachable and friendly
  • Children who are well behaved, enthusiastic and enjoy their learning
  • An established, friendly and supportive team of staff
  • A positive and forward thinking staff team and governing body
  • Excellent professional development opportunities
  • Well-resourced classrooms and excellent outdoor space

We are keen to hear from people who will support our academy aims and ethos and who will work with our children to ensure they achieve the best possible outcomes. We welcome and encourage visits to the academy which can be arranged by contacting Hays Education on the details below.
