Job overview

Are you looking for an exciting and rewarding challenge working with young people? If so, we have the perfect opportunity for you!

The role

We are appointing a new Learning Mentor to join our outstanding academy from September 2022. The successful candidate will be a compassionate person who has the ability to build supportive and effective relationships with a caseload of students who have a range of vulnerabilities.  You will work closely with the wider pastoral leadership team to support the behaviour systems of the academy and promote academic achievement for all students you work with.

What you offer

You will be a positive and reliable person, with a depth of experience and intuition to build effective relationships with students who find the school environment challenging. You will be equipped at raising the aspirations for these students through high-quality mentoring and interventions which allows students to achieve their academic potential.

What KAA offers

The successful candidate will be joining a team that is firmly committed to making KAA one of the best academies in the UK. The value of being part of a great team should never be underestimated. Being a member of KAA means you will be joining a supportive and talented group of staff who will invest in your professional development. This role will be excellent preparation for your future career, wherever that may take you, and previous mentoring staff have gone on to take up roles in social care and teaching. Further information about the unique benefits and strengths of KAA can be found via our website.

The role is being offered on a full time, permanent basis on a 39 week contract (term time only).

Application process

The deadline for applications is 9am on Monday 4th July 2022. Interviews will take place soon after the deadline and where possible, candidates may be contacted ahead of the application deadline.

About Kensington Aldridge Academy (KAA)

KAA is an 11 – 18 academy situated in the heart of Notting Hill. We opened in brand new buildings in 2014 with just Year 7 and our facilities are second to none. We are now in our ninth year of operation and are a full school with 1,250 students in Years 7 to 13.

KAA has grown to become one of the top academies in the UK. Our Ofsted report grades us outstanding in all categories and describes standards as “exceptional”. In 2018 we were awarded TES Secondary School of the Year, and our 2022 Good Schools Guide review praises the “phenomenal” education students receive.

Why work for KAA?

Making a real difference

KAA pursues the very highest standards in education, both inside the classroom and beyond. We believe all children can achieve good results, irrespective of their prior attainment or experiences. 60% of our students qualify for the Pupil Premium, but with our help they can overcome the barriers that relative poverty can create. Our ethos, spirit and commitment to ever-extending student achievement make KAA an incredible place to work and learn.

Unrivalled professional development

KAA is a high-performing environment where staff at all levels feel challenged and supported to achieve their professional goals. As you will see in our Ofsted report, CPD in our school is of an “exceptional” standard and is an ongoing focus for all staff. There are few better places to develop your skills as a teacher than here with us in Kensington.

Being valued

We invest in our staff and offer unique benefits, including: 180 school days (as opposed to the 190 other schools have); 15 training days (as opposed to 5); free breakfast and lunch for all staff everyday; a two-week half term in October; free staff exercise and well-being sessions, and much more.
