We are seeking an enthusiastic, dynamic and efficient colleague to join our team of committed professionals.  The successful candidate will provide a range of skills to organise and manage the learning resources in the school Library; organising and managing the school’s Learning Resources in conjunction with the Head of English. The successful candidate will have experience in working with young people.  Applicants will show a commitment to support the ethos of the school and an ability to implement its policies, including Safeguarding, Child Protection, Equal Opportunities and Health and Safety.

Outline of Main Duties:

In conjunction with the Head of English Faculty, maximize the use of the resources within the main school Library which are available to students and staff in line with the school’s strategic plan.

Responsibility for overseeing the security and maintenance of the resources available to provide a safe and inspiring learning resource environment to students, staff and visitors.

Identify and develop resources within the school to maximise the interest and benefit for the students, staff and visitors.

Supervising Sixth Form students during their independent silent study lessons. Support English teachers in the delivery of their timetabled library lessons.

Expand and develop author visits.

Contribute to increasing the profile of literacy across the school, including lunchtime clubs for creative writing and reading.

Develop links with local primary schools to promote literacy.

Continue participation in the Maidstone Area Book Awards programme.

Ensure that the physical Library is clean and tidy and current publications are available for students.

Ensure that the virtual library is maintained and up to date to respond to school needs.

The postholder is required to work for 38 weeks per year term time only. The postholder will receive a payment in respect of their pro rata entitlement to Annual Leave appropriate to their grade, Bank Holidays and the KCC concessionary day which is included in the salary above.

Maidstone Grammar School for Girls is a very successful selective girls’ school of 1220 students with a mixed sixth form of approximately 340.  Since July 2019 we have been appointed by the Department for Education as a Computer Hub in recognition of the expertise the school has evidenced in Computing Education and will take a lead in training teachers across the south east in the delivery of Computing.
