Job overview

Brooklands is one-form entry primary and nursery school based in a leafy private estate in Blackheath, Greenwich. We aim to provide the very best education for all our pupils; giving time so that each child can develop academic, personal and social skills in a caring and stimulating family-type environment.

Here we believe that children learn best through direct experience. Our school curriculum is based on this principle, which captures interest, stimulates enthusiasm and provides learning opportunities for pupils of all abilities.

At Brooklands, pupils are encouraged to take an increasing responsibility for their learning, which we believe promotes greater confidence and independence, preparing them for their future life.

Brooklands is also part of the highly successful Maritime Academy Trust, an innovative partnership of eight academies working across Greenwich and Medway.

We are looking for a Learning Support Assistant to join our team to support children with Special Educational Needs across the school. This role will involve working 1:1 with children in the classroom to enable them to achieve and succeed. It will also include delivering SEN interventions for children. The role will not be assigned to one individual child, but will instead be part of a team who support a number of children at different times.

Brooklands is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of the children and young people and expects all staff to share this commitment. An Enhanced DBS check will be sought for the successful candidate.

Welcome to our School's profile. Brooklands School forms part of the Maritime Academy Trust, a multi-academy trust that is committed to making sure that education is meaningful.

Our Trust is made up of 11 primary schools located in Greenwich, Bexley and Kent. Though our schools may be different with their own in-school culture and community spirit, they all work harmoniously and collaboratively together within an entrepreneurial curriculum that ensures each and every child is being equipped with leadership and life skills. At Maritime, we do this by empowering schools to drive more meaningful and enjoyable outcomes for children by having great people working for us, who commit to working hard to make an impact whatever the school and whatever the role.

At Brooklands we believe that it is our responsibility to create a place of learning which is populated with curious, resilient and independent learners for life.

We expect all of our learners to:

  • Be curious
  • Concentrate
  • Co-operate
  • Enjoy learning
  • Find things out
  • Have a go/take risks
  • Keep improving
  • Persevere and not give up
  • Use their imagination
  • Respect and care for others

We believe these are the ‘keys to success’ and, as such, we ensure that our curriculum provides many opportunities to hone these lifelong skills. We believe that if these skills are developed in all our learners they will be well-equipped to thrive in our ever-changing and challenging world, enabling choice and opening up options for their futures.

So, if you are looking for a place to apply your knowledge and develop your skill set in a friendly and energised environment, then Maritime may be the place for you. All we ask for is a commitment to continue to learn and the flexibility to try new things as we strive to ensure that every single child receives a phenomenal education.
