The role of a Learning Support Assistant involves working with students across Years 7 to 13 in a variety of subject areas, either on a 1-1 basis or in small groups.  Some students may have Special Educational Needs that you can support them with (training is offered in this remit), whilst others may need extra assistance from someone with a passion for the subject to push them even further. The students you will be working with are by no means behind in the subject, but need extra encouragement and support to ensure they understand each topic and to enhance their confidence within the subject.

This role is ideal for Graduates looking to gain experience before commencing Teacher Training in 2020.  Every year, we support a great number of staff with their transition onto the renowned teacher training course delivered by Kent & Medway Training; we offer training in a variety of subject areas and can provide you with advice and guidance throughout the application process to the point of enrolment.  Extending your experience working with young adults you will grow in knowledge of not only the curriculum, but also how a school operates, the wider environment and you’ll be able to observe a range of teaching styles and techniques.  Contact Olivia Couzins (Head of Recruitment) to find out more – 01634 412 240 / olivia.couzins@latrust.org.uk

To be considered for the role, you will need to meet the following requirements;

  • Educated to at least Level 2 Maths and English, but ideally educated to A-Level or Degree Level
  • Previous experience of working/volunteering with children/young people, or with a real interest in working with this age range
  • A commitment to motivate and inspire young people, supporting them to overcome any barriers
  • Good ICT skills and practice
  • You will be committed to personal learning and development, and have a sincere commitment to sharing our long-term aims and drive for continuous improvement.

The working hours are term time only, Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday 8.30am-15.30pm, Wednesday 8.30am-16.00pm (total 30.5 hours weekly) plus 5 inset days.

In return, we will offer you a professional and supportive team, a state of the art working environment and a genuine opportunity to develop. As a Trust, we feel it is important to hire for the right attitude which is why we look for support assistants that are enthusiastic, focused and resilient to the day to day pressures that the classroom brings.
