Learning Support Assistant

We are looking for Learning Support Assistants to join the team at Sherard Primary School. There are both temporary and permanent positions available. There are roles available based both in Mainstream or our Specialist Provision, working 5 days per week (32.50 hours per week), Monday to Friday, term time only plus the 5 INSET days (39 weeks).

We are looking for reflective and skilled Learning Support Assistants who can motivate and encourage children as required and to support children with special educational needs.

Experience of working with children and some knowledge of Child Protection and Health and Safety policies are essential. 

You will have an NVQ Level 2 in Supporting Teaching and Learning/Early Years or equivalent.  Level 2 qualifications in Maths and English are essential, or currently working towards. Along with good interpersonal skills, you will be emphatic with children and young people, and be able to work effectively as part of a small team. 

About the Mowbray Education Trust

The Mowbray Education Trust (MET) is a multi-academy trust currently educating around 2,500 children from the age of 2 to 16 in the town of Melton Mowbray and surrounding villages in the Borough of Melton.  The MET currently has one secondary school, five primary schools and one pre-school; with potential numerical and geographical growth in the future.

Melton Mowbray is a rural market town in Leicestershire which is easily commutable from Grantham, Leicester, Loughborough, Nottingham and Oakham.

The MET has a central support services team, with staff managing Estates, Finance, HR, IT and Operations, across our schools.  The central team are based at offices within John Ferneley College in Melton Mowbray.

The remuneration package includes a competitive salary, contributory public-sector pension scheme and a generous annual leave entitlement:    

  • Starting salary - £14,415.40 per annum (£19,266 FTE – Grade 5, LCC07).
  • Local Government Pension Scheme membership    
  • 5.44 weeks paid holiday entitlement rising to 6.44 weeks after 5 years’ continuous service.
