Learning Support Assistant

Harris Academy Riverside is a brand new academy with drive and ambition, which opened in September 2017. Run by the same experienced leaders as Harris Academy Chafford Hundred, the school's permanent site will be at the heart of the regeneration of Purfleet town centre. For the first two years, the school will have a self-contained area on the top floor of the newly built Harris Primary Academy Mayflower in Chafford Hundred.

We are looking to appoint an energetic and enthusiastic Learning Support Assistant to join our strong and committed academy team.

The role will include responsibilities including assisting teachers in evaluating identified students' progress and monitoring this in lessons. You will be supporting students to engage with learning objectives and helping to develop AEN provision for the curriculum alongside teachers.

The academy is rapidly expanding, and there will be great potential to take on wider roles beyond learning support as we grow. This role is also an excellent opportunity for anyone looking to gain classroom experience ahead of teacher training.

What we are looking for:

Someone with energy and enthusiasm, who can encourage and inspire young people to achieve
An effective team worker who is equally able to work under their own initiative
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Someone who is sensitive in complex situations
Experience in SEN is not essential, but you should have excellent literacy skills and, ideally, an undergraduate degree in English.
