Your opportunity

We are looking to appoint vibrant and motivated learning support assistants to join us in supporting the young people we serve at Harris Academy Tottenham. You will have experience in working with children with SEND and may have specialist SEND qualifications. This is an exciting opportunity for a committed professional looking to start or continue their career in a rewarding new role.

You may be engaged in:

  • Supporting a SEN pupil on a 1:1 basis in the classroom
  • Providing targeted support outside of the classroom
  • Work on differentiated activities with groups of students
  • Liaise with the SENCO/Inclusion manager to deliver SEN provision
  • Developing social/emotional skills (depending on individual need)
  • Working with teachers to monitor progress of pupils
  • Accompanying pupils to relevant therapy sessions (depending on individual need)

As a learning support worker, you will assist with the implementation of a high-quality learning provision at all times, working in partnership with parents/carers and other professionals to ensure all students reach their full potential. You will be required to support the child to access learning in the classroom and at times provide 1:1 interventions.

Candidates will need to support the child across all areas of learning. You may also support the child during the playtimes and lunchbreaks

  • Open to and experienced in dealing with students with challenging learning difficulties and special educational needs.
  • Encourage pupils to become independent learners;
  • Provide support for their welfare and support the inclusion of our pupils in all aspects of academy life.

About Harris Academy Tottenham

Harris Academy Tottenham opened in September 2014. As an all-through school, it has begun with a Reception in its Primary phase and a Year 7 in its Secondary phase. These phases will grow by a year group each September until it reaches full capacity and it will also have a Sixth Form.
