Description St Joseph's College, Lochinvar is seeking a temporary part time (30 hours/week) School Officer - Learning Support to join the school community commencing in Term 1, 2021
St Joseph’s College, founded by the Sisters of St Joseph in 1883 is a co-educational secondary school providing a rich and diverse educational experience for 940 students from Years 7 to 12. Position Requirements The School Officer - Learning Support works under the direction of the Leader of Learning Support and in collaboration with the Learning Support Teachers to support students with additional needs, supporting the development of inclusive learning environments and providing assistance to teachers to meet the specific learning needs of students with additional needs.
Essential Criteria
• Ability to articulate a clear understanding of and a personal commitment to Catholic Education and to actively supporting the Catholic ethos and culture of the school
• High level of communication and interpersonal skills when relating to students and other teachers with the ability to work collaboratively with school staff and members of the wider community
• Demonstrated experience working with young people with a diagnosed disability or additional learning needs
• Demonstrated experience working with students who exhibit challenging behaviours and ability to follow plans and procedures put in place for these students
• Understanding of non-violent crisis intervention strategies for school students
• Highly developed computer skills and an ability to use technology for education support
• Demonstrated appropriate experience and/or Certificate III in Special Education
• Demonstrated ability to contribute as a member of a team and assist in the planning, preparation and implementation of personalised plans and programs to enhance student support
The applicant must provide evidence of the following:
• Current Paid Working with Children Check (WWCC)number;
• Completion of Anaphylaxis training.

Conditions of Employment Salary is in accordance with New South Wales & Australian Capital Territory Catholic Systemic Schools Enterprise Agreement 2017.
