Description St Catherine's Catholic College, Singleton is currently seeking a temporary part-time Learning Support Assistant.



St Catherine's Catholic College, Singleton invites applications from suitably qualified, experienced and highly motivated people for the position of temporary part time Learning Support Assistant to join the school community for the Term 3 & 4, 2020. This role is 10 hours/week working 3 hours a day across 5 days per week.



The Learning Support Assistant works in collaboration with the Learning Support Teachers to support students with additional needs, supporting the development of inclusive learning environments and providing assistance to teachers to meet the specific learning needs of students with additional needs.
Position Requirements • A relevant understanding of the philosophy of Catholic Education;


• Certificate III in Special Education (minimum)


• Cooperative nature, kind manner and capable of supporting children in their learning


• Competent level of literacy and numeracy and the confidence to assist students with their literacy and numeracy


• Capable of working under the supervision of the Learning Support Coordinator and Classroom Teachers


• High level of communication and interpersonal skills when relating to students and other teachers


• Ability to contribute as a member of a team and assist in the planning, preparation and implementation of personalised plans and programs to enhance student support
Essential Criteria • Paid Working With Children Check (WWCC);

• Experience working with children with Autism Spectrum Disorder

• Experience working with students who exhibit challenging behaviours and ability to follow plans and procedures put in place for these students

• Understanding of non-violent crisis intervention strategies for school students

• Highly developed computer skills and an ability to use technology for education support

About St Catherine's Catholic College
