Job overview

Bonus Pastor is a really exciting place to work, with innovative £22 million buildings and amazing facilities. The school was judged Outstanding in every category by Ofsted in September 2017 and students consistently achieve above-average attainment and progress.

The SEND department is at the heart of the College and has an outstanding reputation for managing the complex needs of those students with specific EHC plans and many other SEND students who have a wide range of special educational needs. What underpins the success of the department is the desire to ensure our students can achieve their maximum potential, gain independence and social awareness so that they can enjoy and participate in the school environment alongside their mainstream peers.

As a result of the significant increase in demand of those with EHC plans choosing Bonus Pastor Catholic College as their school of choice we are looking to appoint outstanding candidates who may be qualified to degree level or hold relevant professional qualifications and/or experience to join our successful SEND department. You will need to demonstrate passion, enthusiasm, and an absolute commitment to improving the life chances of all our SEND students regardless of background or ability.

Excellent CPD opportunities are available and this would be an ideal opportunity for high quality candidates to develop within the SEND team or graduates who may be considering a teaching career.

Application forms and further details are available from the College, by email from harmann@bp.lewisham.sch.uk or phone 0208 695 2100 Ext 103.

Closing date for applications: Noon on Wednesday 9th June 2021

About Bonus Pastor Catholic College

Bonus Pastor Catholic College is a co-educational, voluntary-aided secondary school based in Bromley, Kent, for students aged 11-16.

Principal

Jonathan Ronan BSc (Hons)

Values and vision

The Catholic faith is fundamental to Bonus Pastor Catholic College’s work. The school day begins with an act of worship, either in tutor groups or in year group and house assemblies. Prayer time in tutor groups is often organised and led by the students themselves, and all these times of prayer are related to the school’s "theme of the week".

The secondary school’s lay Chaplain is available to meet with students on a one-to-one basis, and provides additional pastoral support for all members of the school. Bonus Pastor Catholic College is proud of the fact that British values are at the heart of its ethos. Areas in which these values are expounded and embedded include citizenship days, the curriculum, the house system, house assemblies, and links with other institutions.

Ofsted report

“Students’ behaviour is outstanding. They conduct themselves with courtesy and show generosity towards others and commitment to achieving their very best. They are excellent ambassadors for the college. Students feel completely safe within the college. The governing body, headteacher and senior team share a strong desire to raise students’ achievement through improved teaching. The governing body is experienced and skilled and provides strong challenge and support on behalf of parents and the college community.” (September 2017)

"The school’s values of respect, responsibility and ambition are reflected in everything the school does. These values describe the day-to-day experience of every pupil perfectly. Pupils recognise this and said that the school is a community in which they are kept safe."

"The school is expertly led and managed. High expectations are the norm, for pupils’ academic achievements and personal development and for maintaining high levels of attendance. This is recognised by parents, who greatly appreciate the school’s endeavour. The governing body contributes strongly to the school’s work, checking carefully that pupils continue to be well served." (October 2023)
