Job overview

The college is looking to expand its Support for Learning Department (S4L) with the appointment of two permanent Learning Support Assistants to join our busy and friendly team in the new academic year. The main purpose of the role is to support students with identified learning and emotional/behavioural needs, basic literacy and numeracy difficulties, sensory impairments, and/or other learning difficulties or disabilities.  This support will be delivered in the classroom, but may also be given on a one-to-one basis, in the S4L centre.

Applicants for this post should either be currently working in schools/colleges as an LSA, or training towards becoming an LSA.  Experience of working with young people with ASD would be advantageous but not essential.

The post is for 33.5 hours per week, term time only (39 weeks).

Itchen College is a mixed, non-selective, non-denominational further education college in Hampshire, serving students from the age of 16-19. The college, situated in Southampton has approximately 1,558 learners on record.

Itchen College was founded in 1906 as a co-educational secondary school and later Itchen Grammar School. It welcomes learners from across the world, with 10% making up international students. Facilities on the campus include a sports centre, performing arts block – features Apple Mac suites, recording studios and soundproof music rooms, and a Student Centre for students to relax in during their study breaks.
