Learning Support Assistant

Salary Scale: Salary Scale: Girl’s Learning Trust Grade Range 3 (£22,377 – £23,607) per annum pro rata Actual Salary range (£17,743 – £18,718) or Grade Range 4 points 11-15 for a candidate with suitable qualifications and/or experience in EAL
Hours: 32.5 hours per week term time + 1 week (1 week = INSET Days)
Carshalton High School for Girls is a high achieving school, oversubscribed school judged by Ofsted in November 2017 as Good in all categories and Good overall.
Governors are seeking to appoint a Learning Support Assistant who will undertake general learning support duties for children with Special Educational Needs but also work closely with students who have English as an Additional Language.
Applicants must have the right skills and abilities to work with young people with Special Educational Needs but preferably also some knowledge and/or experience of EAL work. Applicants will need to integrate within our friendly Learning Support Team as well as being able to demonstrate excellent communication skills and the ability to develop good relationships with students and staff. Candidates will preferably have an understanding of safeguarding and are willing to undertake further training.
The aim is to support students (including those with EAL) so they achieve their academic potential. Emphasis is placed on appropriate personalised strategies and interventions for each student, which will enable them to successfully manage their social and emotional development.
The successful candidate will have:
• Experience of working with or caring for children aged between 11 to 18
• Excellent interpersonal skills
• Good numeracy/literacy skills
• An ability to relate well to children and adults
• An ability to work constructively as part of a team
• An understanding of classroom roles and responsibilities
• A highly professional manner
