Are you an outstanding professional with a passion for achieving the best possible outcomes for excluded learners and those with complex needs? Are you a professional with an established track-record of delivering excellence? If so, this position could be the role for you!

We are looking for two experienced Teaching Assistants to join our TBAP Unity Academy.

This role is about more than learning support. It is about turning around the lives of vulnerable learners. Yes, it is a big challenge, but it’s also an inspiring opportunity to work with young people with complex needs who require extra support to achieve their ambitions.

Unity Academy is a Special School and part of TBAP Academy Trust located in Wisbech. It provides education for vulnerable and challenging young people all of whom have an EHCP for Social, Emotional and Mental Health. The overarching aim of the academy is to support learners to gain an education in a nurturing and caring environment and prepare them for the wider world. The Academy provides a broad and balanced curriculum which meets individual needs and the special educational needs of learners with Education Health and Care Plans. Where appropriate, the curriculum mirrors learners’ mainstream experiences and promotes continuity and progression in learning as well as emotional and social development. Learners are taught in small group settings with a high level of individual support and the academy works in close partnership with local schools, agencies and parents/carers to give the best support possible to its young people.

TBAP Multi-Academy Trust includes eleven Academies delivering high quality Alternative and SEMH Provision across four London Boroughs, Cambridgeshire, Essex and the North-West of England. Additionally, we have a Teaching School Alliance that offers extensive CPD and research programmes at all levels. In September 2016, we opened an innovative new 16-19 Academic AP Free school, which provides an academic curriculum to enable learners to gain access to Higher Education. The Trust has an excellent reputation for providing high quality education and transforming the lives of children and young people and is proud to hold a silver award from Investors in People.

We would like to interview individuals that reflect our values of resilience, compassion and innovation and desire the best outcomes for our children and young people. If this is you, please apply by completing our TBAP Application Form available for download from https://www.tbap.org.uk/vacancies/index.php

The TBAP Trust is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff to share this commitment. An enhanced DBS disclosure will be requested for the successful candidate in accordance with Safeguarding Children and Safer Recruitment in Education legislation.

Please visit our website for further information on the Trust and our Academies and to download an application pack.

Closing Date: 28th January 2019

Interview Date: To be confirmed to shortlisted candidates

The Quality Assurance Review found indicators that TBAP Unity Academy appears to be at the top of the Good grade and is working towards Outstanding. Challenge Partners Report May 2017

With sites in Wisbeach and St Neots, TBAP Unity Academy welcomes pupils from all over Cambridgeshire and neighbouring authorities. Our key aim is to provide a comprehensive education for Learners with Statements of Special Educational Need or Education Health Care Plans for Social, Emotional and Mental Health Difficulties. In January 2017, the new site at St Neot's opened, offering a state-of-the art learning environment for up to 65 learners.

The new leadership structure is giving all staff opportunities to develop their leadership skills, as well as ensuring that the monitoring of teaching, learning and assessment is rigorous. Challenge Partners Report May 2017

During their time with us, Learners will have access to a comprehensive curriculum which covers all aspects of the National Curriculum, alongside opportunities for Personalised and Vocational Learning. Upon entry they will be reviewed by Learning Support Professionals to establish individual plans focusing on Literacy, Reading and Numeracy Skills. A big focus of our work is also the development of Social Skills, which enables Learners to leave us with the necessary attributes for a successful adult life.

We have a clear focus on improved behaviour and follow the overarching TBAP Behaviour and Keeping Safe Policies. As such, we have a set of expectations that all children must work within. These are based around safety, respect and learning. When things go well learners are rewarded. When Learners’ behaviour is less than acceptable, school staff adopt restorative approaches which aim to repair harm and restore order so that effective working relationships continue.

The wellbeing of staff, as well as learners, has high priority and the daily debriefings contribute to this. Challenge Partners Report May 2017

Belonging, growth and achievement are at the core of all we do. These are important to our purpose, procedures and practice. We aim to provide a sense of security so that everyone feels safe, confident and can demonstrate respect for both themselves and others. We encourage a sense of responsibility and accountability, with an awareness of fairness and an appreciation of diversity in an atmosphere aimed at realising and developing potential through challenge.
