This is an exciting opportunity for a well-qualified, experienced and highly motivated Lecturer with significant beauty therapy experience to join our successful hair & beauty team.
You will be qualified to a minimum of Level 3 (ideally to level 4), and will have significant industrial experience as a beauty therapist. The TAQA for Assessors / Internal Verifier or equivalent qualification is desirable. You must also have a recognised teaching qualification or willingness to undertake one.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
- Play an active role in the marketing of the College and the Department through such activities as open days and through liaison with local employers and schools.
- Act as Personal Tutor to groups of students and undertake the duties associated with this pastoral role.
- Engage in core duties including preparation, marking, monitoring student progress, preparing reports, setting and marking of examination papers, developing and preparing flexible learning materials, writing schemes of work and mentoring.
- Monitor retention, achievement and success rates.
Required Skills and Experience:
- Has a relevant qualification ideally to level 4 or equivalent.
- Has or is willing to train for an appropriate teaching qualification.
- Is well organised and able to manage the peaks and troughs of a varied workload.
- Has relevant commercial or industrial experience.

Newcastle-Under-Lyme College is a mixed, non-denominational further education college in Staffordshire, serving students from the age of 16 and above. The further education college, situated in Newcastle under Lyme has approximately 3,800 full time learners on site every year, along with 2,600 part time or adult learners.
Newcastle-Under-Lyme College opened in 1986 and in 2010, moved to a £60 million campus. In 2015, a £5.5 million performing arts centre opened, while an outdoor learning centre built the following year. The college works closely with LEGO Education to help support learners and teachers and has invested £60,000 in a LEGO Education Innovation Studio. Other facilities include The Gordon Banks Sports Centre, which features a 24 station gym, a media theatre, fashion studio and a hair and beauty training salon.
