The Music and Performing Arts department at Newcastle College and University Centre are looking to appoint an experienced Lecturer of Musical Theatre.
You will have an extensive understanding of Estill and Hustler vocal techniques and be able to teach group technical classes using anatomical language in line with expectations at a vocational level. You will prepare and deliver ensemble classes which focus on musical theatre repertoire through the ages, as well as pop repertoire; specialising in vocal qualities expected at industry standard.
Piano skills are essential as well as the capacity to MD productions and smaller cabarets and college events.
You will be comfortable teaching harmony and larger scale group numbers, as well as delivering acting through song classes which use methodologies based around Meisner technique, realism and finding personal authenticity.
In a remote capacity you will need to use recording software for backing tracks, as well be able to use teams and zoom software for classes and feedback purposes.
You will have experience in planning and assessment for learning, offering engaging lessons that stretch and develop learners, knowledge, skills, and behaviours of the subject. Experience in providing detailed, constructive feedback to support learner progress is essential. Knowledge of the BTEC awarding body preferred.
As cohort lead, you will assist in the academic wellbeing of your students with one to one tutorials as well as keeping them connected to the support network available to them within the college. Knowledge of etrackr is preferred, however not essential.
You will have industry connections to supply opportunities to students across both FE and HE and to better equip them for a career beyond their education.
