15 hours per week initially, term time only (hours increasing as the school grows each year)
Saracens High School is a 11-18 free school that opened in September 2018 for pupils aged 11-18, in the Colindale area of North London.
This is an exciting opportunity to be a key person in building our library and cross-curricular literacy culture, in line with our values of Discipline, Hard Work, Honesty, and Humility.
Our Librarian will be responsible for managing the provision of an inspiring, dynamic, rich, and well-organised library for pupils, while ensuring that its facilities sit at the very heart of teaching and learning for all academic subject areas. It is heavily used both in and out of lesson time and, and through the Accelerated Reader programme, it plays an important role in helping to develop the reading and literacy skills of our pupils. Our new building, which will be completed in 2020, will have a extensive learning resource centre at its heart.
Candidates will ideally have school library experience and have worked in a similar setting. The ability to forge excellent relationships with both staff and students is essential.
Our school is a place where a person enters the building and knows this is a school where the learner is empowered to “be the best that they can possibly be”; where the individual abilities of each pupil are recognised, and where coaching for life skills as well as academic excellence is at the core of all we do.
