McAuley College is seeking a qualified and experienced teacher for the role of Literacy Champion. This position will be coupled with a part time teaching load across a combination of subject areas including English, Humanities and Religious Education.
The successful applicant will work as part of a team to assist the College to improve student learning outcomes, specifically in the area of literacy. The work will involve partnering directly with teachers, co-planning and co-teaching, to improve their pedagogical practices. Knowledge and experience of the High Yield strategies, expected and effective practices are essential in this role. The applicant should be conversant with our Vision for Learning and clear processes for implementing the same.
The Literacy Champion will have a reduced teaching load to provide time to work alongside teachers both in and out of the classroom. The Literacy Champion will be part of the Accelerate team, joining the Middle Leader of Learning Enhancement (Literacy and Pedagogy) and the Education Officer.
McAuley College will enter its third year of operation in 2019, with students in Years 7 to 9. Establishing a new school is a privilege which requires teachers who are resilient, hardworking and flexible. We are looking for people who are creative, both in the creation, planning and delivery of a contemporary and innovative curriculum, but also in their capacity to problem solve in a school which is developing resources, policies and procedures. All applicants must have either interim or full registration with the Queensland College of Teachers (QCT) or be eligible for registration. The successful applicant will be required to complete a number mandatory on-line training around areas such as Student Protection and Code of Conduct prior to commencing teaching duties. Accreditation to teach Religion in a Catholic School is a distinct advantage.
