The role

Smart Teachers are seeking to recruit a Male Special Needs Teaching Assistant to join an inspiring Special Needs School in South West London. The successful Special Needs Teaching Assistant will work in a KS4 class, supporting a pupil with ASD. The pupil is described as friendly and ‘a delight to work with’. Successful candidates will work closely with the class teacher and other LSA’s to provide tailored support for the pupil, both academically and socially. They must have the ability to follow instruction but also be able to use their initiative. Male applicants required due to the student’s individual requirements. 

The school

Graded ‘Outstanding’ by Ofsted, the school caters for children with a range of special needs including ASD and PMLD. Split over two sites, the role is situated at the Upper site which caters for pupils aged 11-18. The schools is well resourced with an onsite hydro pool and sensory rooms. The school is located in Morden, South West London and has good links to the Northern line as well at St Helier’s over ground station. This is a great opportunity to join a tight knit team of teachers and LSA’s, who work together to provide a learning environment that is nurturing and stimulating for all pupils. The role is for the duration of the academic year, with the possibility of being re-employed from September 2021. 

Requirements

To be considered for the Male Special Needs Teaching Assistant position, you will:

• Hold an enhanced DBS 

• Have previous experience working with children in the UK in the past 2 years
