Nelson and Colne College Group is a beacon for educational excellence, made up of a family of colleges – Nelson & Colne College, Lancashire Adult Learning & Accrington & Rossendale College. 


We are looking for an experienced writer to join our team of creative marketing professionals on a permanent basis working 37 hours per week.

 

The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication and creative skills and will play a lead role in developing content for a wide range of materials for the College Group brand. 


You will have experience in a marketing, PR or journalistic background and will be practised in writing for different audiences, with an extensive portfolio of written work. The right candidate will have a strong understanding of messaging and will be driven to ensure that the Group’s brand is exceptionally well communicated and materials are high quality and engaging. 


The successful candidate will be primarily based at Nelson & Colne College but may be required to travel across to other college’s sites.

 

The main duties include:

• Working closely with the marketing manager, take responsibility for producing content for a wide range of materials, communications, newsletters and publications. Ensure content is appropriate and engaging, brand messaging is effective and ensure exceptional high quality and attention to detail throughout.

• Take the lead in developing our creative brand messaging. This will include tone of voice, audience specific messages and developing a range of ‘hero stats’ for different markets. Act as our ‘Brand Champion’ among the team and broader college.

• Take a lead role in producing creative content for advertising campaigns, ensuring targeted and engaging messaging. Ensure that the key messaging is effectively communicated among the team and is consistent across our campaign channels.

 

The ideal candidate will have:

• A relevant degree 

• Professional qualification in Marketing (CIM) or PR (CIPR)

• Broad experience of writing and proof-reading skills

• A broad understanding of marketing and brand development

• A strong portfolio of creative writing / material production

About Nelson and Colne College

Nelson and Colne College, located in the town of Nelson, Lancashire, offers further education to 1,600 full-time students and 3,500 part-time adults. The college was founded during the reorganisation of education in Pendle in the early 1970s and created by the merger of several local sixth forms. 

Recent investments have included a £2m engineering facility, an all-weather sports pitch and gym, fully equipped science laboratories, and student study and social spaces. In January 2017, Nelson and Colne College launched a university centre to offer a range of higher education programmes in East Lancashire and beyond.
