THE SUNDAY TIMES SIXTH FORM COLLEGE OF THE YEAR 2015/16
Mathematician in Residence
Required for September 2018
Full or part time
Fixed-term contract for one year (with option to extend to 2-3 years)
London Academy of Excellence (LAE) is seeking to recruit a highly inspirational and academically skilled mathematician with exceptional subject knowledge to teach and support the most able students in this ambitious, academically selective sixth form.
In 2017 LAE secured outstanding A level results. 88% of A level grades were A*, A or B and 60% of all grades were A* or A. More than 150 students progressed to Russell Group universities with fifteen securing places at Oxbridge and 21 taking up offers to study medicine, dentistry and veterinary science.
The school is heavily oversubscribed with more than 3000 applications for 250 places each year and was graded ‘outstanding’ by Ofsted in November 2017.
We seek someone with exceptional postgraduate qualifications who is passionate and committed to high academic standards in their subject. A teaching qualification is not required for this post, but a passion and aptitude for teaching and imparting knowledge is essential. The successful applicant will enjoy a significantly reduced teaching load to give more time for subject development and the sharing of best practice.
This post would suit a passionate mathematician on either a part- or full-time basis.
What LAE can offer you:
· the opportunity to engage with your subject to the highest standard with many of the most able and inquisitive young people in east London;
· regular high-quality continuous professional development and support;
· a modern and positive learning environment minutes from the Olympic Park and Stratford Station;
· collaborative working with our partner schools such as Brighton College, Highgate School and Eton College;
How to apply?
Please submit a covering letter of no more than one side of A4 together with the LAE application form by 9.00am on Monday, 4 June 2018 to firstname.lastname@example.org.
LAE reserves the right to interview and appoint before the deadline has passed so early applications are encouraged. The full job description and our application form is available to view and download from our website.
