Required for September 2018 - or earlier - an inspirational full-time class teacher with special interest in teaching Maths through NC years 2-7.

The successful applicant will demonstrate an understanding of and interest in dyscalculia, and have the organisational skills and experience to be subject leader in maths. It would also be beneficial if the successful applicant holds an AMBDA approved post graduate qualification in teaching pupils with specific learning difficulties; however, this qualification is not essential.

The successful applicant will demonstrate enthusiasm and the ability to work successfully with an innovative and creative team. Our teaching approach is to investigate and address the reasons behind our pupils’ difficulties in the classroom, and the successful applicant will wish to broaden their knowledge and skill in this area.

As form teacher the successful applicant will be responsible for maintaining a supportive, orderly and structured learning environment in which pupils start to take responsibility for their own learning, receive support in improving organisational skills and treat each other with respect.

As a subject teacher the applicant will be expected to demonstrate an ability to plan and differentiate lessons to meet each child’s needs including the provision of appropriate challenges. The successful applicant will show they have the ability to earn pupil trust, and evidence that they are a good team player both seeking and giving support to colleagues.

Calder House is a specialist school and is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of its pupils. Candidates must be prepared to undergo appropriate child protection screening including checks with past employers and the DBS. You will be asked to confirm that no member of your household has ever been disqualified from Registration under the Childcare (Disqualification) Regulations or is liable to be disqualified.
