A fantastic opportunity for an innovative, creative, courageous and resilient Secondary Maths Teacher to grow and thrive in a unique special school in an ethnically diverse inner-city area.
Pathways School is a special school for pupils with social, emotional, behavioural and mental health needs, with a therapeutic approach. The school caters for pupils from Year 2 to Post 16 as we grow; with pupils from Upper Key Stage 2 to Year 11 currently on roll. As we grow our pupil numbers and our staff team, we are now looking to recruit a Secondary English Teacher to join the Pathways team.
The school is part of Eko Trust in the London Borough of Barking and Dagenham, in East London. The school is undergoing a transition and will be moving to a brand new, purpose-built site in 2022. This will include great facilities including training rooms, therapy rooms, great technology and a sixth form.
The ideal candidate will have successful experience of teaching Secondary Maths in either a special or mainstream education setting, as we are just as keen to encourage applications from candidates with a relevant mainstream background as those with special school experience. The candidate will have a proven track record of their impact in securing high quality outcomes for pupils’ learning and achieving in Secondary Maths up to GCSE level. They will have a proven track record of accelerated progress and a robust and secure subject knowledge to teach to GCSE level and possibly beyond.

About Pathways School
Pathways is a new all-through special school for pupils with severe Social Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) difficulties, who, for a variety of reasons find mainstream school challenging to manage. The school is part of the Eko Trust family of schools. As an Eko School there is a focus on innovating practice and inspiring teachers and support staff by collaborating with staff from other schools. Eko Trust is now a group of 6 schools, 2 of which are SEMH settings.

The school provides full time places for pupils. The school’s vulnerable families are directed to the school by the Local Authority who believe that Pathways School will be the best in the local area at supporting the needs of the families and pupils. Most pupils have underlying complex special needs including speech, language and communication difficulties and increasing numbers, particularly among the older pupils, have mental health problems. All pupils have or are in the process of being assessed to have Education Health and Care (EHC) plans issued.
The school is dedicated to partnership working, with parents/carers, mainstream schools, other education providers, and a range of other agencies involved with young people with SEMH needs. This commitment to the social inclusion of our pupils aims to address the severe social, emotional and mental health difficulties presented, the challenges their families face and the subsequent attendance issues that manifest themselves.
